Microbubbles for Stroke, Neurofibromatosis, Medicare Cuts, and Insulin Resistance and Stroke
While the use of microbubble-enhanced TPA treatment of acute ischemic stroke may increase the risk of intracranial hemorrhage, overall the treatment appears to benefit patients. Neurofibromatosis is the most common neurocutaneous disease of children, and we present an update on treatment recommendations. In our Halls of Congress segment, the Bush administration has introduced a bill to reduce Medicare payments by linking reimbursement to physician efficiency and performance. And from the International Stoke Conferenece, a link has been discovered between insulin resistance and stroke.
